The JEGS Spring Door Car Shootout is 2 weeks away! Here are 12 great reasons to join us at I-57 Dragstrip April 30-May 1 for the inaugural event.
1.) Door Cars Only!
Door car drivers, this race is for you! This is your opportunity win $7500 on Saturday & Sunday without having to face a single dragster! Door car racers throughout the Midwest deserve a race like this, and we’re proud to present it. With no dragsters in the event, the quality of equipment is greatly equalized, meaning we’re going to find out what DOORCARS and DRIVERS are the best in the region!
2.) Great Guaranteed Purses!
The two-day main event purses are 100% guaranteed by event promoters Luke Bogacki and Scott Bailey. Not only is the purse great at the top, but the payback is strong as well: 3rd round winners earn $100 each day! Over $30,000 of cash purses are guaranteed throughout the weekend!
3.) Limited Expenses!
Weekend entry for the pair of $7500-to-win main events is just $275. The same car and driver combination cannot double enter, so you don’t need to purchase multiple entries in order to be competitive! Plus, the JEGS Spring Door Car Shootout offers first round-only buybacks for $75 each day. This isn’t like many big dollar races where you can ring up a $1,000 tab before you turn around. Worst case scenario; the main event will cost $425 (with entry and two days of buy backs).
4.) I-57 Dragstrip!
I-57 Dragstrip has that small, laid back country race track feel. I-57 features an ETS timing system and well prepared racing surface, not to mention the best concession stand in the region! The staff is friendly and courteous, and our goal is to create a fun atmosphere in which everyone can have a great weekend!
5.) Big Jed on the Mic!
If you’ve never had the opportunity to meet or listen to Jared Pennington, you’re in for a treat. From his knowledge of and passion for the sport, to his humorous observations, to his stunning rendition of the national anthem, “Jed” alone is worth the price of admission!
6.) Buy Back Bonus!
Competitors who do have the misfortune of having to buy-back into competition following the first round of main event competition have some small consolation. Buybacks in Saturday’s Moser Main Event will each take home a K&N “Wrench Off” oil filter for their troubles as part of K&N’s “Filter Out the Bad Run” program. In Sunday’s BRODIX Main Event, each buy back will receive a roll of ISC Racers Tape as part of the “Patch Up Your Weekend with ISC” program!
7.) Fab Shop Quick 16!
After Saturday’s Moser Main Event, we’ll hold a special bonus event for the quickest door cars on the premises. The winner earns $1,000 and a set of custom door car headers from The Fab Shop ($1500 value!). Entry is just $50, and the entry fee is refunded to non-qualifiers.
8.) Ohlins King of Illinois Hi-Roller Shootout!
The second specialty race Saturday night is just for the “hi-rollers.” Entry is $500 (cash only), and there is no limit on the number of entrants. This race pays back 100% of the entries, with no buy-backs, WINNER TAKE ALL! As if that weren’t enough, the King of Illinois event winner will also receive a complimentary pair of Ohlins LMP Series Shocks ($1500 value)!
9.) Specialty Awards!
In addition to the $30,000+ cash purse, the JEGS Spring Door Car Shootout will feature a number of specialty awards and prizes. Awards include: Best Appearing Car (Todd’s Extreme Paint), Best Wheelie of the Event (FTI Converters), Hard Luck Awards (JEGS Doorslammer Open, Digital Delay, and APD), Long Tow Award (Mickey Thompson Tires), and the Bottom Bulb Bonus (reserved for competitors DARING enough to compete in the SDCS without the aid of a delay box)! We’ll distribute more than $12,000 in “Door” Prizes throughout the event. These prizes will be awarded randomly from drawings of the 2nd and 3rd round losers (racers who are defeated prior to the money rounds).
