The issue cant be the 500.00.The issue is the amount of insurance. If Im killed going to or from or at the track NHRA pays One Million dollars if your a member . What does the track pay if your not? Ill tell you a big fat zero. Its a no brainer! The insurance and rules are alot stiffer, but Id rather be safe and covered and have a chance at Indy. Maybe we can all get together and help out on the insurance side of it. But all of it needs to be brought out into the open and be honest. Thats all I want! Love you Greg but are you going to take care of my family if something happens to or from the track. Dont think so. Lets stop beating around the bush and get it solved and have another great year at Midstate. Just my two cents worth! Well maybe five! JOHN SMITH

If you people are under the assumption you have that kind of insurance coverage from the NHRA for your family you are badly mistaken. All I can say is good luck, I have seen and heard all too many horrer stories about insurance people thought they had. The only help I have ever heard of anybody getting is from DRAW. The bogus medical coverage in your membership is excess coverage at best and you would probably ahve to sue to get anything and any money would go to an attorney. But what do I know, I have only raced for 35 years and been in the insurance business nearly 25 years.

Id believe the Harters first they have raced a couple years also. And it actually was used by them not stories , facts.I quess the packets NHRA gives you is all lies by your account. I didnt know racing 35 years made anyone an expert on anything. Unless you sold insurance for NHRA for 25 years it doesnt make you and expert on their policys . Some coverage is better than none and I dont have to race 35 years to figure that out. After a 250,000 open heart surgery Im sure glad I had insurance. And I bet Davey is still thanfull he was a NHRA member! But what do I know Ive only been alive 50 years.

Concerning the NHRA insurance. Here is a copy and paste from the NHRA website:
I. PARTICIPANT ACCIDENT MEDICAL POLICY
A. Standard Member Track Event Limits:
1.$10,000 Accidental Death & Dismemberment 2.$15,000 Excess* Medical Benefits 3.$100 Per Week Disability Payments-52 Weeks
II. NHRA MEMBER CATASTROPHIC MEDICAL POLICY
Provides up to $485,000 in excess medical benefits and up to $40,000 in excess Dismemberment benefits to current NHRA members, as determined solely by the membership records of NHRA, who sustain accidental bodily injury while attending or participating in a covered drag racing event (defined as an event for which a premium has been paid) at NHRA member tracks.
INSURANCE SUMMARY
In the event an NHRA MEMBER PARTICIPANT (as defined in the policy) is accidentally injured at a covered NHRA Member Track event, the previously described coverages would be in effect for eligible medical expenses in the following order, and as applicable:
•Any other medical coverage available to a participant applies up to the limits of that policy or plan. •The NHRA Member Track insurance responds to the next $15,000 of medical costs. •The NHRA Member/Catastrophic Medical insurance applies in excess of the NHRA Member Track insurance up to a total limit of $485,000.
Nothing is covered to and from the track. Only at the track. Just an FYI.

Yeah Rick that is about what I remember seeing. I don't see anything about to and from, do you? Bottom line is if some of you are wanting nhra just for the insurance and you are depending on that insurance to cover you and your family, good luck.

i for 1 would say nhra yeah they have flaws but by for better than going independant, pretty soon you will let that saftey thing go, then that one pretty soon youre on you're 'own' plus you can run in youre divisionals meets, which to some,, mean alot , thats the personal part as with it being insurance thing ,, well like everything else rates do go up ,, we as racers dont like the thought of paying more to race ,, but if it means more payout (better) or for racing in a better forum ,, then there no secret as to what is the right thing , beside there are much bigger things out here than to decide or not to decide nhra ?

Make sure everyone is clear that nhra goes through k&k insurance. Its not nhras money that you are getting. Its k&k insurances money. From a racers view i dont care what we are. Im really about over nhra. All they have done is piled on more taxes for being a member and trying to run national and divisional meets. You pay $275 to run a national event, which you get 2,000 for winning. Times 275 by 80 cars............ And $250 for any fluid leaked on the track. I know that wont affect your local bracket racer, but it started at the pros and it has trickled down to sportsman guys. Where will the screwing go next? Your local tracks. Thats just my input. And thats as a racer and nothing else

thats if you are going to a national event, we are talking just the track itself,, and 5 - 10 racers a chance to rep the track at the div event , you pay the track , most tracks ,any way, 50 -75 maybe a 100$ to run points, at the start of season, plus entry fees for youre class,, 300 $ is alot for a national event, but never about money, sometimes its just shear pride , some people will spend more on other stuff not think twice,, comes to racing ,, oooo my god,,

like I said before.... the track wouldnt just let anyone "run what ya brung" or not have insurance.... the whole time the track has been NHRA, it isnt NHRA that insures you. Its K&K Insurance like Brad said. So you dont have to worry about safety or insurance because thats not going to change. Its just the simple fact of racing at Indy for the bracket finals.

If you want a tenative schedule I can email or fax you one. We have a few dates that are conflicting with OTHER tracks. We are trying to work together on this, however if I post a schedule and then change a date. I will catch heck from someone. We handed out the schedule at the banquet.
We will make a decision on sanctioning body very soon.

it does no good, if youre still ' fine tuning,' hopefully it will be set, unless weather, power schedule /payouts, will be the winner here, , if youre worried about the other tracks schedule , payouts , = racers win or lose with gateway gone,, racers will come , not unless payout is there and a track thats ready
